Applications are currently CLOSED. Applications will open on April 1st at 12:01 AM EST. Character applications must be posted in journals, and linked when submitted on this page. You may apply for a maximum of two characters per application round. Please include character name, canon, and reserved/unreserved status in the subject line of your comment. Applications decisions are given in the order applications are received. A request for revisions must be answered within three days from the time of the request for your revisions to be considered. If your application is rejected, you may apply again for the same character next application cycle unless otherwise noted, up to a maximum of three times. If your application for a character is rejected three times, you may not apply for that character again. To prevent a situation where some characters have been accepted and some characters are left waiting, all app results will go out together after the app round has closed, ideally within 48 hours. If it has been more than 3 days (72 hours) since the closing of the app round, feel free to contact us regarding the status of your application. You may wish to review the Rules, FAQ, and Taken Characters pages before applying. The Reservations page is located here. Unless otherwise noted, Reserves are open from the 9th to the end of each month, and Applications are open from the 1st to the 8th of each month.

Echo | Original Character | Not Reserved
REVISIONS REQUEST
We would like more information on your character's personal history, including more information on his relationship with Gold. We would also like to see the personality section made more cohesive, instead of a list of disconnected traits.
Please make your revisions and reply to this comment within three days.

Character History:
About a year prior to the story, Echo was discovered outside a town of simulacra. As per procedure, he was given a rundown on just what he was, what was going on, so on and so forth. When he was asked to pick a name for himself, he chose Echo because "Aren't we all just echoes of another person?" His stance on this would change quickly as he became aware of the popular view: that simulacra were distinct people from their originals.
About a week or so after his appearance, he was brought to the facility that managed the Simulacrum System for registration in the Simulacrum Index. Here his higher level of dimensional interference was discovered, and he was warned about what this meant for him.
A month after Echo's appearance, a silver-haired simulacrum was found near the facility. The scientists at the facility discovered that this new simulacrum came from the same world as Echo did, and so they contacted Echo about meeting him. Echo was the one who first met Gold and gave him his name (for the gold accents on the jacket he arrived in). Gold's curiosity was piqued by the fact that Echo originated from the same world he did, and that lowered his barriers slightly... but only slightly.
In the beginning, Gold was very fearful and distrustful of people. Echo insisted on coming to visit him in his apartment every day, and after a while, he opened up to Echo. It took some more gentle coaxing to get him to leave his room for more than basic supplies, but soon the two were going around town together. Gold would never really become fully comfortable around other people, but his bond with Echo was clear.
One day, Echo invited Gold to his apartment for an experiment in physical intimacy. Gold accepted Echo's advances, and the two sealed their bond that night. When all was said and done, Echo declared his feelings for Gold, and Gold responded that he felt the same about Echo. Not long afterwards, they made plans for Gold to move into Echo's apartment, and they began an official relationship from that point onward.
As Echo regained more memories of his original, he began to think that his original was some sort of hero, and he wanted to unite people towards a common cause. That cause would be protesting the Simulacrum System, and perhaps doing something real about it. While he didn't have anything completely concrete in mind, he brought up the idea of a simulacrum rebellion to Gold one night when they were out to dinner. It was nothing more than a discussion of vague ideals, but it laid the foundation for further discussion in the future.
Character Personality:
To use a few words, Echo is bright, energetic, and passionate. He has a certain special zeal for life and all its experiences, which tends to lead to him flying into new things without thinking. He is very emotionally warm and friendly, which has put him on good terms with just about everyone in his little town of simulacra. If you become his friend, expect him to become incredibly devoted to you (perhaps a bit overbearingly so, given the intensity of emotions he can feel and just how he wants to express it).
Echo's desire to live vividly has made him something of a sensualist. He believes that every simulacrum should try to make new memories to replace the ones their bodies keep from them, and this includes sensual memories. He loves food (to the point of being something of a glutton), comfy surfaces, physical intimacy (this is a big one for him; sometimes he doesn't seem to understand why he can't just express his feelings through gratuitous hugs to everyone around him)... those kinds of things. If he's fond of you, he will get touchy-feely unless you tell him off, in which case he'll respect your wishes but be seriously bummed about the whole affair.
On the flip side, Echo's strong emotions can lead to him becoming very moody. He might wake up one day in a rotten mood and stay cranky for the rest of the day, or suddenly slip out of it without warning (most likely after being bribed with something sweet or a little affection). His rotten moods tend to be a very deep crankiness, though, and he'll sulk or lash out at other people till the mood passes. These moods can also slide into depression. When he does experience depression, it seems to be mostly linked to his feelings about his unusual condition. On his less carefree days, Echo worries about what his more intense bouts of illness mean for his future.
Echo draws inspiration from what memories he has of his original. He knows that his original seemed to have a lot of friends, and that motivates him to be as social as he is. (He was still naturally sociable before he had any memories of his original, but the new memories help motivate him further.) He really wants to "make Dad proud," and to that end he starts gathering people to protest the Simulacrum System. His style of revolution is not necessarily bloody, but he sees no problem with inflicting a little damage (mostly property damage) if it will serve a greater cause. However, if people's lives become endangered, he will most likely put a halt to his rebellion.
REJECTED
Unfortunately, the revisions in terms of personality still feel rather disconnected; and the revisions in terms of other things did not do quite enough to explain away some of the concerns we had. As such, we do not feel comfortable accepting your application at this time.
You may apply again next application cycle, beginning July 8th, or apply for another character if you so choose. You may apply for the same character up to three times in total.
