Reward System

Rewards System

By fulfilling their physical contact quotas, the characters are actually helping the city a great deal. Those that go above and beyond what is necessary to survive, in fact, may find that they occasionally are given special privileges, or else are able to get a first look at things others have to wait for.

From an OOC standpoint, the Rewards System is in place to give those who are enjoying the game and actively going beyond the minimum requirements a little extra something to work with every once in a while.

All players will eventually be able to play with releases from the rewards system. If you have a bad month or are just too busy to really contribute, please don't worry. You'll still have access to the new locations or features. Those who participate in the rewards system will just be getting first access.

How it Works
The reward system goes on three month cycles. In the third month of every cycle, a new location or feature will open. For two weeks, that location will be open only to characters who have enough proofs. Once your character gains enough during a particular cycle, they'll be permitted access to the new location/feature when it opens (if it is not open already).

Here are the requirements per thread:
  • Each proof must contain physical contact of some kind
  • Each proof must be within the current cycle (they can't have been started during the previous and carry over)
  • Each proof must come from a different thread
  • Each character must have their own set of proofs
  • Each time a cycle begins, new proofs must be submitted by everyone

Currently you must submit 6 proofs. This number may go up or down depending on how easy/difficult we deem entry to be.

What You Need to Do
Whenever you have enough proofs for a given month, reply to this post with your character's name, OU/AU#/OC, and fandom in the title, and the following in the post itself:

Questions

• Why are proofs by character rather than by player?
This is partially for IC reasons, and also because activity check works the same way. The rewards system is kind of meant to be like a "positive" activity check - if you play more with the premise of the game, then you get a little extra, but if you don't it shouldn't hurt you in the long run.

• Do I need to obtain permission for all of my characters?
Nope! If you just want one or some of your characters to gain permission a particular cycle, then that's fine.

• Why is the new feature/location only exclusively available for the third month?
We wanted to make it easier for slower players and players who arrive in the middle of a cycle who are still enjoying and participating in the game to have a chance at things too. Everyone will have the first two months of the cycle plus whatever of the third month they need to gather proofs.

• Why do proofs need physical contact?
For one, because that's a huge part of the premise of the game, and two, because that factors into the IC reasoning behind the rewards system and why characters who participate more actively gain more access to things.

• Are there any other restrictions on what kinds of proofs can be submitted?
Not at this time. However if we see too many people potentially abusing the system (i.e. threading constantly with the same 1-2 people, making short threads for the sole purpose of gaining proofs, etc.), then we may instate new rules as needed.

Please note that overall this system will probably take a bit of trial and error to make sure that it works out as fairly for as many people as possible. We encourage you to leave us any feedback or questions you might have.
