Note: Keeping above par for necessary physical contact when having used magic or simply having a stressful time would help maintain and clean her Soul Gem. She can either find this on her own (through noticing that magic doesn't drain her Soul Gem so long as she keeps over-minimum physical contact), or if she approaches the NPCs to ask them they can research the situation and give her the results after two weeks.
